On Sunday, July 12, 2026, at 6:30 p.m., the Château de la Ballue presents a performance of La Sirène du Phare, an original production by the BarokOpéra company, directed by Frédérique Chauvet.

BarokOpéra is embarking on a unique adventure within the French Baroque landscape. For the past 10 years, this company has been staging a variety of performances, ranging from opera to opéra-comique, infusing them with a modern interpretation. This passionate and dedicated troupe has developed an original approach that allows it to create several unique versions of the same work while offering contemporary stagings, adapting to the wide variety of contexts, audiences, and performance spaces it engages with. It thus redefines the boundaries of the collective with intimate and accessible productions, guided by the motto: opera for everyone.

With La Sirène du Phare, BarokOpera creates an original project centered on the mythical figure of the Siren, a figure that resonates in everyone’s imagination. Here, the company initiates a dialogue between Baroque, Romantic, and Celtic music, blending dance and acrobatics into a contemporary and innovative staging. The performance connects mythical archetypes to an intimate, human drama. It stages and sets to music the encounter of two beings who alternately attract and repel one another. Two generations, two different worlds, man and woman. Their encounter serves as a mirror.

The depth of the sea, the light of the lighthouse, the silence of the Siren; each element echoes universal questions: How do we make sense of the world? Which path should we choose? How do we navigate our relationships with others and with ourselves? How far should we go to adapt and fit in? *The Lighthouse Siren* does not provide answers, but invites us to listen, watch, and feel.

Under the artistic and musical direction of Frédérique Chauvet and the staging and choreography of Bram de Beul, dancer-acrobat Renske Endel, soprano Wendeline van Houten, bass-baritone Pieter Hendricks, and four instrumentalists specializing in early and Celtic music come together perfectly to present this unique performance and take you on a journey through this contemporary mythical tale.

The costumes designed by Lobke Houkes and the sets by Emilie Lauwers will immerse you even further in this enchanting world.
