ARMA Barok Opera presents its new work, choosing a piece by George Frideric Handel, a promising pastoral opera, Acis & Galatée – Handel in Love.

Under the auspices of the Opéras d’été de Dinard, a special customized setting of this opera in two acts will take place on Sunday July 17, 2016 at 6:00 PM at the Château de La Ballue.

This “pastoral opera” is a blending of the cantata, mask, opera and even the future English oratorio forms.

Acis & Galatée – Handel in Love is a sublime evocation of the torments of love as experienced through myth and nature. We see the shepherd Acis and the beautiful Galatea, blissfully happy and in love …  in fact there would be no story to tell if the giant Polyphème was not also determined to win the nymph’s love.”

As they do every year, this piece places the opera in its historical and musical context, using playful, theatrical tools.

The opera will be sung in both English and Italian (with dialogues and supertitles in French) and will be performed outdoors in the extraordinary setting of the principal courtyard of the majestic Château de La Ballue. After the performance there will be a reception with the artists.

Tickets: 30€ full price – 15€ for students, and those 10-18 years old. Free for children under 10.
